Linux: Hangs when selecting 256 KiB + 1 of characters

Doesn't hang when selecting (not copying to clipboard) this output:

tr -cd '[:print:]' < /dev/urandom | head -c $(( 256*2**10 ))

Hangs when selecting this output (and above sizes):

tr -cd '[:print:]' < /dev/urandom | head -c $(( 256*2**10 +1 ))

ghostty interactive output during this isn't exceptional

ghostty's config are left at their default (~/.config/ghostty/config is empty).
ghostty's resource consumption does not spike.

Sounds like a hard cap somewhere in the codebase. Just curious - why would you want to select more than 256KiB of data to begin with?
