It's definitely possible to move the bar on GTK, not sure about macOS |

Sorry to miss your Masto post. This is definitely possible, easy even. I want to retain some flexibility to change how we do progress reporting in the future in general so I'm not sure if I want to make this configurable yet. I'd rather make this the best default and continue to assess as more feedback comes in when we release 1.2. I'm willing to yield on that just don't want to jump the gun too early on making a config option. So, perhaps the question is: is this actually best suited in both platforms to the bottom? I don't think we referenced any prior art to the progress bar when we implemented it because quite frankly very few terminals implement it. It does make sense to me to have it at the bottom for various reasons, such as the fact that the newest stuff is often at the bottom of terminals. Does anyone know what other terminals implement this and what they do? Windows Terminal, perhaps? |

Because of this I didn't want to open a new discussion. But I did want to just add it that I'd really love the option to disable the progress bar. Using ghosty with claude code where every time it starts reading a file the progress bar jumps a little and then immediately stop over and over again makes it a not very pleasant experience. Obviously this is personal opinion, but I find it a bit dizzying and it does make me end up not enjoying using claude code with ghostty. |

I responded to your Mastodon post but didn't get a reply, so I thought I'd try it here as well.
Can I tell Ghostty to put the progress bar at the bottom of my screen instead of the top?
Since most of my commands are somewhat at the bottom and on big monitors it could make sense to see it there instead of the top.
Based on this https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/pull/8477/files#diff-c374fec7311f861985680ba3dc467c0458aef5b5213d220c3ccd72eae87cc7c6R305-R315 it seems hardcoded for now.
Additionally the bottom is also where most installers for Applikations or Software from Windows, macOS or even Linux have their progress bar. To put it to the top feels a bit weird, but that's just my personal opinion.
