Error: failed to parse markup

Moved Gitblit 1.8.0 GO directory off my server to backup. Then I formatted the server and moved the Gitblit directory back to the server. Now I am getting really slow speeds compared to before and the markdown doesn't parse.

I have been running Gitblit on a Raspberry Pi 3 for about a year with no issues and very fast load times. Now that I have reinstalled Raspian nothing is quite the same.

Also, just for a heads up, I have tried both Java7 and Java8 with no noticeable difference.

Any ideas what I might want to check?
