Request to add network proxy feature

Sometimes accessing GitHub within the game is not very smooth, thus requesting the addition of a network proxy feature to configure the IP address and port for connecting to websites like GitHub.

There used to be a proxy configuration option in “Dalamud Settings → Experimental”. However, this option appears to have been removed in an update sometime last year.

According to #2549
, proxy support was implemented as a feature in the Chinese distribution of Dalamud. But as far as I understand, there is only a Chinese version of XIVQuickLauncher which still using official dalamud.

Given that a significant number of users have difficulty accessing GitHub directly due to network restrictions, would you consider reintroducing an official proxy configuration option in Dalamud to improve accessibility?

Dalamud has never had a proxy option. This is not DalamudCN, and changes limited to their fork are specific to their project. None of the regional FFXIV distributions can use Dalamud for the global FFXIV client. They work differently. This would not be a reintroduction.

The main Dalamud repository uses a proxy service so that users do not directly hit github. As shown in several places in the plugin installer, we cannot provide support for custom repositories.

Correct, we never had it.
C# supports environment variables and uses the systems proxy settings as fallback by default (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/api/system.net.http.httpclient.defaultproxy?view=net-10.0#remarks), so I recommend to set it up there.
