• won't show up if you're up to date, making the label appear only some of the times rather than all the time but with relevant information
• clicking it opens an url in the browser, but nothing indicates this appart from the hover tooltip: it's styled the same as the version label next to it, which does not open a browser tab when clicked

Describe the feature / enhancement and how it helps to overcome the problem or limitation

• if you're up to date, display in green that you have the latest godot version
• if the link is clickable and open a browser tab, it should have the "outgoing link" icon (same as in Improve in-engine links that will open in a web browser #9369)

Describe how your proposal will work, with code, pseudo-code, mock-ups, and/or diagrams

the "latest version" label could also be clickable and direct to this versions' download page, for consistency and conveninence.

If this enhancement will not be used often, can it be worked around with a few lines of script?

I don't think we need to show a label when Godot is currently up-to-date. I agree about adding a link icon for the "update available" text though.

I'm currently working on this, more specifically the link icon when an update is available. However, I'm encountering a bug that's preventing me from testing, changing version.py doesn't change the Godot version number anymore for me, it worked around 10-15 times, but now it doesn't change from 4.6.dev. If I can fix it and find a way to reproduce it consistently, I'll make a bug report.
