What do you mean by "status"? The status of the SIP connection? The state of you call? Something else? The first two of them should be visible in the icon on the top right / tray icon. If not, we need some kind of log to help us understand what's wrong.

As you can see in the top right corner, there is this bright-blue round icon, this is unchanged at all times.
In the tray icon i see the program icon, but this is also unchanged.

Is the unchanged bright-blue icon in the top right corner intended behaviour?

If you're not connected, you'll get a grey status circle. That's why I asked for a application log.

Thanks for the log file. It shows clearly, that the registration has been successful and the problem is merely visual.

To get the presence state of the own user, GOnnect currently uses the LOGNAME (environment variable) and tries to match that against the users of an address book source (such as LDAP). If it finds a match and a phone number that is tagged as "sip subscriptable", it subscribes to the sip buddy state of that user.

That just evolved how we using it at our company, but I understand it is not really suitable for other users.

We will discuss internally, how we can solve this in a good way.

That an unregistered state is not shown was in deed a bug; thanks for catching.

PR #434 introduces a fix and a new state management. The avatar component on top of the window will then show the desired SIP state and set it for SIP. It is then the current state by definition.

The logic to select the avatar will be revised in the future, when we need to merge different sources.
