How to extend --lib-path

How exactly does one use the multi-library search feature in the .bashrc file?

Using alias dex="stack exec dex -- --lib-path /home/grishkin/dex-lang/lib:/home/grishkin/DEX/some_directory does not work for me and only results in stack starting the installation of dex all over again.
