JSON Variables - Not Working?

Hi All,

I'd like to introduce variables into my dashboard from which I'm polling JSON from.

The problem I'm having is that I'm able to create a variable and can see the various fields/data it's obtaining from my json data source but it has no effect or bearing on the various panels displayed on my dashboard.

I don't understand how the variable relates to the data panel itself.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something basic/fundamental?

Any help/guidance would be well received!
