API Days Paris

In our last meeting, I've mentioned we have the opportunity to collaborate with API Days Paris this December.

First of all we need to see - who from our community is planning to attend.

There is a small clique of fellow French Apollonauts, I asked there if anyone wants to join.

Besides that, I can ask a few Android developers but I doubt they would be too interested ^^

Hey folks, I'll allow myself to drop a comment 😄

For APIDays. I highly encourage you to join in Paris, but not only. Of course, there are 2 aspects of cooperation that you can do, "conference track" (I'm not here for that) and the booth. This is already our 3rd year for AsyncAP,I where we collaborate on both. I drive the booth topic. The booth thought is never "AsyncAPI" - I thought that we should use the opportunity that if such a large conference organizer offers a booth for our community free of charge, we should invite other API-standards-related communities to join. Cooperate, not compete.

So I created a concept that turned into: https://groups.io/g/api-standards (short name thanks to input from @martinbonnin)

In short: "API Standards is a community-driven initiative that creates a vendor-neutral space at conferences to facilitate open discussions around various API standards. By setting up booths staffed with experts actively involved in shaping these standards, the community offers attendees direct access to guidance and support."

Next week in Munich we do it again, there will be AsyncAPI and JSON Schema folks at the booth. Next this year is Lagos, London and Paris (everywhere where we know at least one TSC member or ambassador from AsyncAPI is present and can cover the booth.

You are invited to all of those. Join the mailing group 👆🏼 , I always share details there.

If you join instead of doing your own "GraphQL" booth, and we know that upfront, we can negotiate and maybe get from APIDays larger booth, and market this more upfront, so we get more people join and talk to us.

side note: my dream is to one day have an API Standards Summit in a style of unconference (yeah, not very vendor friendly I think) where we can talk and selforganize many discussion on specific standard or cross standard. Mehdi from APIDays knows that dream and even offered we could do a dry-run in Paris - but yeah, different topic, you need to be really interested as this would have to be driven by people from all API Standards, not just me at AsyncAPI

Quick update here as the event is confirmed:

• Dec. 11
• We have a room for ~200 people for the full day

This is in addition to the open standards booth that is running the 3 days.
