Migrating from the LinuxServer.io Docker image to the official Grokability Docker image?

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any input regarding migrating from the LinuxServer.io Docker image to the officially supported Grokability Docker image? The reason I am asking is that the LinuxServer Docker image is now deprecated so a bunch of us will be migrating off of that version.

And yes, before anyone mentions it - I understand I was using an "unsupported" Docker image of Snipe-IT. Regardless, I am going to follow the following guide and make a blog post once I figure it out but I figured I would ask the community for some insights.

I'd think that you should just be able to do a regular Snipe-IT backup from within the GUI or cli, fire up the new image, and do a restore from backup via the GUI. Snipe-IT really doesn't care what it's being run on.

Well that was an absolutely painless experience:

1. Create backup of the old environment
2. Spin up new Snipe-IT environment
3. Complete the initial setup of new environment and then import backup of previous environment
4. ????
5. Profit

Aw, yay! So glad you're all sorted.

Do you know why Linuxserver.io deprecated us? (I'm not mad at all, it was a huge burden on us to troubleshoot people who got it there and then came here for support.) They've never spoken to us at all so I don't really know what happened. Overall better for us (and you, I think), but it seems abrupt and without public reasons.

I have no clue as well as one day to the next they announced that their image was deprecated. The reason why I got myself into this mess was because I was following a Synology guide that used the Linuxserver.io image but I am happy the migration process was painless.
