Fresh install v8.1.2 Ubuntu 24.04 LTS - can't import assets

Would love some help. Fresh installation to an AWS m2.small running Ubuntu 24.04LTS. Confirmed clean install, users set up, manual assets created no issue. Pulled the sample-assets.csv file for v8.1.0 off the site, dumped my data in, and consistently get the "Error uploading file. Please check that there are no empty rows and that no column names are duplicated.". Pulled the datafile in to BBEdit, removed all unexpected spaces, unnecessary commas and slashes, and confirmed that all required fields have data in them. Same result each time. I've also confirmed no duplicate rows or columns. Reformatted dates to be --. Any help appreciated!

Check your file for quotation marks (") in text (15.6" as example) because these tend to wreck havoc, but wrap all your texts in them because any extra comma in text will break import table. Also, slashes (/ ) and some other special characters may be interpreted as commands and skipped when importing, so it's best to avoid these.

I'm attaching working file with proper formatting. I've tested it v8.1.3 - imports perfectly.

Sorry about the -- thing - I forgot this interface would remove < and > enclosed text. Date format 11-11-11.

We do sometimes see that error if the upload directory is not writable by the web server.

I may be doing a huge stupid - I'm going to strip out the user assignment bits. Since they were in the sample import file, I left them in. For the upload directoy issue (thank you) I did also change the upload directory to writeable by everyone when I saw that was a possibility. I will also go back and enclose the data with " " - right now it is raw text.

BTW Sample I have uses these columns, in this order:
Full Name,Email,Username,item Name,Category,Model name,Manufacturer,Model Number,Serial number,Asset Tag,Location,Notes,Purchase Date,Purchase Cost,Company,Status,Warranty,Supplier

OK, apparently my chmod wasn't recursive. I updated the top level as that's what the note indicated to do... but on a whim I tried using a direct file transfer to the assets folder in private_uploads and was denied. So as a precaution I've just updated private_uploads/assets to everyone as well. I was able to drop a file via Filezilla, but I still can't import from the web interface.

Can you tail the logs as you're uploading and see if any errors pop up?

Are we talking about /var/www/snipe-it/storage/logs and the laravel.log file? It doesn't show any attempts to upload, period, nor does it change when I attempt to upload from the web panel.

For the win, it was the log file. Ugh. I was reading through the notes, is there a script I can run post-install to fix some of these rights issues?
