I could not find the rationale for the change in the changelog, but it is something my co-workers have reported to me.
Generally I don't see it improves anything, but it makes things less clear to us.
Look at the example:
"#" is shown in the checked out to field, but not in Asset Tag.
Again, is shown in the title, but not inside:
What is worse, you can't search for "#IT-04603", such thing does not exists, but "IT-04603" does.
You could probably easy change this to make it possible to search with preceding #, but it would not make the sense - this is not the asset-tag name. After a while I am thinking maybe the change makes more sense for companies which do not use prefixes at all.
If this was supposed to improve readability of something, maybe better would be to use some icon identifying Asset-Tag?
