[Feature]: Ability to also scan Serial Numbers in Audit screen

How can we help?

We have some smaller stuff with existing serial number barcodes/qr codes. The devices are too small to apply our own asset tag. We could really use the ability to scan serial number in the audit field as well as asset tag.

We are prepping to use our own ASSET tag prints from SnipeIT. Once we turn on the 'autogenerated' asset tags, then our assets will no longer have serial number in their 'asset tag'. This will not allow us to audit these smaller devices which can't take an asset tag label.

Which context do you mean scanning in? (This is doable, we just need to make sure it's flexible enough to not disrupt existing workflows)

We want to be able to go through assets with a laptop/wired scanner to AUDIT assets based on just their scannable asset tag, or in this case the serial number barcode provided by manufacturer. Idea being maybe when the android app comes out, we could use that.

The issue being that we have some assets that only have that built in serial number barcode. The devices are too small to attach the SnipeIT asset tags.

If we can get more audits on devices then devices that haven't been audited recently could be a "lost" device for us that we try to track down its location.
