I see you renamed pyontoenv and I had the feeling it was probably part of the issue... it was hard to follow what is rust, what is python, etc.... this shim idea, I'll look at it more closely, it's interesting....

Yes! I forgot I had the older 'ontoenv' package on pypi when I started this new effort, so I claimed 'pyontoenv' as well to support the new code. Now I'm in the position of handling both of these... I'm trying to see if I can create a shim package to unify these two packages in the same repository. There are also some weird cross compilation issues that arose. I can always revert some of those changes too. I'll merge this PR so I can can get some additional testing features into the actions tab
