Introduction

Web accessibility is essential for people with disabilities but useful for many more. Learn about some of the accessibility considerations and how they benefit everyone in different situations.

What is Colors with Good Contrast?

There needs to be sufficent contrast between text and its background (technically called luminosity contrast ratio). This also includes text on images, icons, and buttons. Too little contrast makes the content difficult to read. Some people are also sensitive to bright colors.

Who depends on this feature?

People with color blindess, who cannot discern certain colors;

People with color perception limitations and sensitivities.

What are the additional benefits?

Content works in different lighting conditions, such as sunlight and glare, especially on mobile devices;

Content is easier to read by everyone, including those who do not have specific sight conditions.

What needs to happen for this to work?

The selection of appropriate foreground and background colors is crucial. There are tools to help check and select appropriate color combinations. This is ideally done during the early design stage and the selection of color palettes.
