<p>Web accessibility is essential for people with disabilities but useful for many more. Learn about some of the accessibility considerations and how they benefit everyone in different situations.</p>

<h2 id="what">What is Customizable Text?</h2>
<p>Users need to be able to change the size, spacing, font, and colors of the text. This includes that text re-flows properly when it is enlarged, and that no information or functionality is lost (text re-sizing is different from zooming or magnification, which enlarge the entire web page). Many web browsers provide customization options, though sometimes they are not easily findable. Some web browser plug-ins and mobile applications do not provide or adhere to such settings.</p>
<h2 id="who">Who depends on this feature?</h2>
<ul>
<li>People with low vision who are not using screen magnification software;</li>
<li>People with some forms of dyslexia and other cognitive and learning disabilities, who need particular presentation of the text to better read it.</li>
</ul>
<h2 id="others">What are the additional benefits?</h2>
<ul>
<li>Content is more adaptable to smaller and also larger screen sizes;</li>
<li>Content is more adaptable to personal preferences and comfort;</li>
<li>Content is more ready for translation, to adapt to words and sentences of different lengths.</li>
</ul>
<h2 id="action">What needs to happen for this to work?</h2>
<p>Content needs to be properly designed and coded, so that it can adapt to different customization options. This includes using relative rather than absolute units for the size of fonts, controls, and other objects. Applications should use the settings of the web browser or operating system. Websites and applications could also provide information to help users change their own settings.</p>
