Since this extension hasn't seen active development in nearly three years, many of its features have broken due to GNOME updates.

I wanted to point out that HieuTNg/touchpad-gesture-customization is an actively maintained fork of this extension. For some reason, it doesn't appear to be referenced here. The fork provides full support for GNOME 48 and earlier versions.

Just thought this might be helpful for users looking for a working alternative.
