You probably saw my email already - you can use curl to query the unix socket directly. The halpi command line utility is relatively heavy and takes a long time to start. (My long-term plan is to replace it with a Rust program with the same functionality.) If you want to run it in a loop, it's better to use curl instead:

curl --unix-socket /var/run/halpid.sock http://localhost/values
curl --unix-socket /var/run/halpid.sock http://localhost/config

# or individual keys

curl --unix-socket /var/run/halpid.sock http://localhost/values/V_supercap

I'll keep the issue open because a more user-friendly CLI with json output would be nice, but I think it'll have to wait for the rewrite.
