Dear hc-sc-ocdo-bdpd,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am currently working on a project where I need to extract and convert data from HCL Notes NSF files using Python. While I have access to the NSF files and a machine with a full HCL Notes/Designer/Admin installation, I am encountering recurring issues when attempting to access or process the files programmatically.
Despite reviewing existing resources and tools such as lotus_leap and other Python-based approaches, I have not yet been able to get a stable and working setup. The Python script either fails to connect to the NSF or throws errors during execution.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone could provide:
-
General guidance on how to properly configure the environment for Python-based NSF access
-
Any working example scripts or repositories that demonstrate a successful read/export workflow
-
Tips on dependencies, DLLs, or environment variables required (e.g. Notes DLLs, PATH adjustments, etc.)
-
Clarification on whether additional libraries or interfaces (e.g. COM, Java bridge) are needed for reliable access
The goal is to extract documents including metadata and attachments for migration into a more modern system. I am open to using alternative approaches if there's a more reliable path.
Thank you in advance for your time and support – any help would be greatly appreciated!
Best regards,
Jonas G
