If you are a macOS user you may experiment some trouble trying to run TuxGuitar. Let's take a minute to explain why.

Apple's ecosystem is globally a closed one. If you want to use an app under macOS, it needs to be approved by Apple (app needs to be "notarized"). Unfortunately this creates strong constraints for developers.

According to Apple's doc, this requires at least:

• A Mac running the latest version of macOS
• An Apple account

And one more constraint (see Apple's doc), it requires paid membership:

• Enrollment is 99 USD (or in local currency where available) per membership year

This list of constraints is probably not exhaustive.

TuxGuitar is developed and maintained by a community of volunteers, for free, and currently these constraints are blocking.
