Curious about the long-term vision for Helix #15314

I am also just a user of Helix and can therefore only speculate. But based on the development of Helix that I have seen so far, I would guess that there is no fixed roadmap. In other words, there is no plan to release feature X next, then feature Y, then feature Z. As an outsider, I suspect that development is more organic. Like a river whose bed changes over time. But as I said, I'm just a user. But would that be a bad thing if I were right? I could imagine that there was no real roadmap for the initial development of vi(m) either. |

Helix is fairly complete in my experience, where it's not I usually adapt myself to that limitation. I think the elephant in the room is the integration of Human assisted vibecoding. There is now much wider gap between an IDE and text editor due to inclusion of AI assistance. If Helix development velocity doesn't improve, developers are very likely to move on to Zed. |

Hi all,
I’ve been using Helix for over three years now, and I just wanted to say thank you.
I really appreciate its simplicity and design philosophy. What I love most is that I barely had to touch the config — it just works. That minimal, batteries-included experience is exactly what I was looking for.
As a long-time user, I’m curious about the future direction of the project.
Is there any kind of roadmap or long-term vision that the maintainers have in mind? I’m not looking to push specific features — I’m more interested in understanding how Helix is expected to evolve, and whether active maintenance is expected to continue at the current pace.
I’m very happy with the current state of Helix, but I’d love to understand where things are headed.
Thanks again for all the work that goes into this project.
