Description
Without "props", and colors, I think even the most expressive person is hard put to make more than about 20 unique "faces", see this series:
There is a concept of "Mood Map" using just 2 axis and I have had some limited success with mapping the 40 child recognition feelings to this map, Colors are automatically found using this technique:
We are a group of 7 people with various backgrounds from Bliss Language expertise, to Graphics Arts, to teaching, and many years of combined programming and now game-engine experience.
Before we begin to introduce OpenMoji images to our audience we will be doing considerable work toward "systematizing" and because our software is an ILE we should be able to experiment / do studies to determine, for example, if GIF files such as Facebook is using are effective with children as we expect they may be.
There are easily over 270 words dedicated to Feelings in the English Language. I have tried a 2 axis system, and a Mood Map method with only limited success for the 38 or so expressions I consider somewhat basic (can easily add >20 more?):
Now I have spent hours matching a basic set of 16 + the 40 also used above to a "Feelings Circle":
Trying to map an expression to all the Feelings does not seem necessary or desirable :)
However, using COLORS to reflect the "Family" and other visual cues seems highly desirable.
Note: Went to share this with a friend on Facebook and up came a set of Gif Emojis that really did seem to add critical recognition as things can be done such as nodding the head up and down, or from side to side, and rate could indicate degree of emphasis. As said previously I am looking for a strong visual separation between the Bliss Symbols (of which there are > 4,000) and some set of OpenMoji style vector paths to fill in certain weak spots, especially toward children.
