Dear @fuddl,

I have to say I'm not very keen on this flag and I personally would prefer not to include this flag into OpenMoji (but happy to hear other opinions).

Why? Because the flag looks quite archaic and even resembles a bit a Swastika "Hakenkreuz" with the particular white cirlce + cross like structure on a red background. I has definitely the potential to create some confusion for people casually browsing OpenMoji.org. We (mainly Daniel and myself) already get a lot of "email noise" which diverts a significant amount of energy away from the nice "making" part. I already see it coming that I have to exlplain this flag over and over.

Other thoughts?

This particular Color variation is used by Duolingo to represent the language. That’s why I thought it’s probably the most recognisable. But I suppose the similarities with the nazi Germany flag are intentional. I see you problem.

But there are plenty of legitimate Color variations available

Of course that you'll complain it still is similar to the Nazi flag, but you never complained about the United Farm Workers flag draped by the left-wing activist Tim Hernández in his classroom wall: https://www.denverpost.com/2022/08/24/tim-hernandez-denver-aurora-public-schools/. In addition, in Brazil, the official left-wing movement called Landless Rural Workers Movement of Brazil, backed by the former presidents of Brazil as Dilma and Lula, has their own official flag: https://mst.org.br/nossos-simbolos/, and left-wing supporters have never complained about it.
