Mangled and incorrect settings

I'm using a TYT MD-UV390 with OpenGD77 (build 20240908143155). When I pull the existing codeplug, I'm seeing a lot of strange characters--like there's an encoding issue. The really strange thing, is that my first large block of channels are all analog. It's only once I start with digital channels that the issue pops up--which makes me think it could be a memory block not being what is expected, as not only are the channel names mangled, the Tx/Rx frequencies, timeout, Rx only, and various other settings are no longer set properly.

qDMR version 0.11.3 (installed via MacPorts yesterday [31-DEC-2024])

I see that 0.12.0 is available, but don't see anything mentioning this in the change log, nor do I see any way to update qDMR to that version to try.

I did see that 0.12.0 is available on Homebrew, so I'm installing that right now.

On 0.12.0, I'm getting a read error. This causes the entire codeplug read to be disregarded.

This explains it. The pre-0.12 version did not check the model. It assumed a GD77 or RD-5R, because the other devices weren't supported back then. Hi, I am having the same issue and observations.
I use a DM-1701with qdmr 0.12.0 and it produces similar error messages. v0.12.0 stops at 99% reading from device with following error message

v0.11.2 reads completely from device, but nothing is in contacts, channels etc. I started from console and did not see any errors there using v0.11.2.

dmrconf 0.12.0 produces the following error reading from radio:
marcus@X230:/mnt/Public/AFU/_DMR/opengd77/CP/qdmr/dmrconftest$ dmrconf -c read testread [================================================= ] 99% ERROR in cli/readcodeplug.cc@51: Export of the old table based format was disabled with 0.9.0. Import still works.

@allesand I did a quick check with 0.12.1 today and I was able to read the CP from the radio and I was also able to successful write it back. No more garbled characters anymore

Another issue I had with 0.12.0, auto completion in the channels editor is now working again. I saw in the settings menu, that the repeater input sources has now more selections.

I'm happy to help test on a RT3S with GPS. I'm currently running 0.12.1 on the 20240908 build of OpenGD77.

I came here looking for info on configuring latitude/longitude of repeaters. I think an import/export in qdmr may have messed up the position info. ... I'll create a ticket if I can reproduce.

Thanks. I'll be eagerly awaiting that release. The CPS software for this radio is the only reason I still have a Windows machine and I'm desperately wanting to ditch that and just stick with my *NIX computers.

Just checked to see, and was able to get the new release. Thanks for do the work to get the device supported. I'm able to pull the existing code plug and all looks good. Appreciate all the hard work.

@W0SZH : Thanks for the positve report! Well, I think @hmatuschek said, firmware upgrade will not be a feature of QDMR, that's why I keep an old Windows installation on a small partition..

At least for the OpenGD77, there is a firmware loader for Linux.
