Proposal: Asciidoc-based conversion for EPUB/HTML5 support (EPUB available inside) #384

Some community members have expressed interest in having more convenient formats (such as EPUB) in addition to the existing PDF #46 #256 #205 . Previous attempts to generate EPUB directly from LaTeX (via Pandoc, LaTeXML, or TeX4ht) have not yielded satisfactory results.

To address this, I have developed a custom parser and renderer that converts the LaTeX sources into Asciidoc. Compared to Markdown, Asciidoc retains necessary formatting features without relying on non-standard extensions, while also providing backends for HTML5, EPUB, and PDF.

The current implementation can successfully convert all files under src/content, and the results have been manually reviewed. Apart from TikZ diagrams, which are not yet fully supported, the conversion is stable and produces accurate Asciidoc output.

The work is available here:

This could serve as a foundation for generating EPUB and HTML5 versions alongside the existing PDF, making the material easier to read across different devices.

Feedback from maintainers and contributors would be very valuable in determining next steps.
