backups (automatic or manual) erroring and am unable to backup

The problem

My backup has recently started to fail and I am not sure how to fix it. A week and a half ago it worked fine. now it will not run.

here is what I found in the logs:

also, again on a restart today, all automations disappeared, (entering automations was literally empty), I restarted again and they reappeared.
