Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

It's been said before that a task should take ~ 15-30 minutes to complete so that volunteers can do so in a reasonable ammount of time, however the current lock time for tasks is 2 hours. Only a small proportion (single digit %) of contributors appropriately split tasks and there is currently little to no encouragement to do so in the TM.

I've seen many seasoned contributors slog away on tasks sometimes locking them time and again, which I have also done myself. This is very inefficient as if the task is not submitted as complete someone else must view the same task, evaluate the existing data, then complete it and it makes life harder for validators too.

Project creators cannot be reasonably expected to size every task in a project appropriately.

Contributors are more likely to be retained if they are able to complete and submit tasks.

Having such a spread in what constitutes a 'task' has a knock on effect on the precision of statistics.

Many contributors are either ignorant of the possibility to split tasks or when one should be split, or they do not have the confidence to overcome the warnings presented to them, or overule the percieved decision made by a project creator, instead thinking 'I must be wrong to want to split the task'.

The propmt which appears toward the end of the lock time only has options for relocking or exiting a task.

Describe the solution you'd like

There should be a prompt somewhere within the 15-60 minute range after locking a task, which encourages contributors to consider splitting the task they are working on. This should improve contributors' understanding of when to appropriately split tasks.

Describe alternatives you've considered

I and others have split tasks in published projects to make it easier for others to contribute, but this can be quite a time sink.

AI assisted task grid generation, and other semi automatic-methods. These may be very useful in sizing the vast majority of tasks, but ultimately will likely not size every task appropriately.
