Toggling layouts on linux/x11

My system is configured to switch between languages with Shift + CapsLock.

Super = Meta

@forward-modifiers Shift Control Alt Super

Control{CapsLock} >> CapsLock
CapsLock{!250ms} >> Escape
CapsLock >> Control

with this simple config i seem to be locked out of switching. Whats the solution to have Shift + CapsLock still work as language toggle?

I think by inserting a Shift{CapsLock} >> Shift{CapsLock} at the beginning.

Do you run a Gnome based desktop environment? I remember having issues triggering the layout switch using the key binding configured in Gnome settings.

What I ended up doing to change it from Keymapper is something like this:

# Input source ids
GNOME_INPUT_SOURCE_US = 0
GNOME_INPUT_SOURCE_FI = 1

# Not my actual mappings, just for illustration
Meta{U}                   >> set_keyboard_layout_us
Meta{F}                   >> set_keyboard_layout_fi

# No need to use abstract commands like here,
# I just copy pasted these from my config as I'm on mobile
set_keyboard_layout_fi    >> $(gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.input-sources current $GNOME_INPUT_SOURCE_FI)
set_keyboard_layout_us    >> $(gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.input-sources current $GNOME_INPUT_SOURCE_US)

The number is based on the ordering of the layouts in Gnome settings.
