Responsiveness issues with top-nav elements

This has been a long-standing issue. I'll illustrate with screenshots of different browser widths.

It happens even with shorter names or even without being logged in.

This issue also came up during #76 . Imo we should prioritize fixing it independently before major changes can be made on the top navigation bar.

Maybe we should drop the idea of displaying the username entirely and place the FontAwesome user icon for the login corner, and make the top left corner icon turn gold instead.

Yeah.. Or maybe capping the width of ther username somehow. Like, Maximil.... if it's too long.
