Straits tagged as polygons or linestrings are missing in openfreemap

Objects of type natural=strait can be tagged as points, polygons or linestrings. While points with this tag are present in openfreemap, polygons or lines are not, even though they are in the openmaptiles schema.

Example: https://www.maptiler.com/maps/#style=streets-v4&lang=auto&mode=2d&position=12.41/55.03952/10.60403 should contain three straits: Svendborg Sund, Thurø Sund and Skårupøre Sund (normal laptop screen). None of those are present in openfreemap data, as seen in this screenshot from openfreemap.org, and I also can't find the objects using the maplibre-gl inspector plugin:

So either your schema data is not up to date, or there is some other cause.

That tag is only included in their v4 source not the v3 that is used in the OSM liberty style provided in maputnik.
It would seem they are generating custom basemaps for their newer dataset.

Adding new tags onto the basemap would probably require a decision on how to configure a custom basemap.

I'm using my own style, based on osm-bright but using openfreemap tile sources, I changed quite a few things by hand. I don't mind adding layers if the data is provided - I already did that a lot. You can look at map.alweb.dk, though that is not even quite up to date with my working directory right now. Press the [I] button for information.

Having the data in there is absolutely a quality boost, imo. I'll be happy to add definitions/layers to liberty and other styles if that would be a help.
