Yes — that is exactly the workaround documented by the upstream project. Steps:

1. Create a Tesla account in a region where FSD subscriptions are available (e.g. Canada, US)
2. Transfer vehicle ownership to that account
3. Subscribe to FSD (~$99/month in the US)
4. The car downloads FSD neural network weights + Gateway receives entitlement
5. After subscription ends, the entitlement may stay cached locally
6. Pull SIM card + disable WiFi to prevent Tesla from pushing a config update
7. This tool keeps the Traffic Light toggle active via CAN injection

Note: Tesla has been increasingly aggressive about detecting CAN bus modifications (see issue #18). The non-FSD features (BMS dashboard, speed display, diagnostics) work in Listen-Only mode and don't carry this risk.
