unusual mouse movement acceleration with wired cursors

Howdy, I have been having this issue for awhile now, I think it might be related to hardware_cursors but idk. essentially when using a wired mouse on nixos (tested ones are g502X and kone aimo) mouse acceleration is very inconsistent at times, getting worse over the lifespan of a hyprland session. I have no clue how to troubleshoot this, and it appears only on the wired mice. to be clear I mean on the low end of acceleration, ie mouse will not move much at all despite being moved alot on the mouse pad.
