Juce plugin closing window on click to menu "subwindow"

After having worked on this for over 30 hours and following so many red herrings I give up for while. Any input would be welcome. Systeminfo: https://tpaste.us/7oWO

This video demonstrates the problem. In the first try it works: I select the chord using the keyboard. In the second try I select the chord using the mouse: It closes the chords window when clicking. On the side you see the current window clients. As you see the juce menu is a new window (called menu).

What I know:

1. It works correctly in sway.
2. The plugin closes all its "overlay-windows" when it looses focus (which is a typical Juce thing, according to the author they did not implement anything special for that and I have another plugin doing that)
3. Hyprland and sway send FocusOut events to the plugin (not only the menu) when the menu cloeses
4. The events sent to the plugin by Hyprland and sway are almost identical
5. Still if I suppress the FocusOut messages sent to the plugin (not the menu) after the menu closes, the plugin works correctly in Hyperland -> Which makes no sense, since we established that sway is also sending these FocusOut messages

-> So probably it something completely different.

• Here is one of the most promising red herrings: If a pointer appears in a surfcae because another floating surface was closed Hyprland and sway generate a FocusOut message first. https://1042.ch/xdev.mp4 (So since again both compositors are doing that it has to be a red herring)
• There are other GUI elements (drag on drop windows) that cause the same problem, all are marked _NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE_COMBO (also the menu) according to some internet discussion Juce means to mark override-redirect windows with that.
• I also traced all the events, but lost that file, maybe I'll redo it, when I got some motivation back
• There is a demo version of the plugin

Could you test on the latest git version of hyprland just so we are on the same page? 9958d29 is quiet old. (why does it says tag v0.50.1 though? haha)

In any case I'm running to a different set of bugs when testing: the plugin window doesn't close when closing the menu, which is fine, but the menu sometime closes immediately after opening, or become unclickable after opening. Ofc it works as expected under sway..

Could you test on the latest git version of hyprland just so we are on the same page? 9958d29 is quiet old. (why does it says tag v0.50.1 though? haha)

That was my mistake I am running 0.50.1, but I forgot to update the commit hash (I maintain the package on my distro and I always forget to update commit hash and the reviewers tell me then. I didn’t rebuild locally after fixing thr commit hash). Will try latest git this evening. I find it very interesting that you have a different behavior.

Ok, I updated to current git and this time set the tag/commit like a pro (https://tpaste.us/wamO)

It is still the same. The chord-window did not close maybe 10% of the time when the menu was clicked and now the window does not close maybe 15% of the time. (100% being the target). So it feels a bit less flaky, but that's it and that is probably due to me having a better mood.

I could probably make a bit a better video, if your experience is very different, there are related effects like drag on drop also resetting "windows".
