chromium / chrome fractional scaling

Not a Hyprland Bug: is chromium just bumping new information to an old hyprland discussion to help the lost user.

Related to closed issue 2588:A general discussion thread on this Chromium bug linking to redirect users into this discussion.

My issue is any fractional scaling <1 results in a shrunken page with broken input mapping. Here is a post on it if interested

Current solution: (wayland-per-window-scaling has been deprecated)

• modify launcher to include --disable-features=WaylandPerSurfaceScale

I cant get --disable-features=WaylandPerSurfaceScale to work on my setup.

My current monitor scaling configuration:

textenv = GDK_SCALE,1.5
monitor=,preferred,auto,1.5

I’ve tried launching the browser with various other flags to work around the issue:

$BROWSER = chromium \
  --force-device-scale-factor=1.5\
  --ozone-platform-hint=wayland \
  --enable-features=WaylandWindowDecorations,Vulkan`

If anyone has any idea what i do wrong please reach out

@Asguho I'm unable to reproduce. /usr/bin/chromium --disable-features=WaylandPerSurfaceScale results in good rendering from 1.5 and 0.8 scales with GDK_SCALE set to 1.5.

Is this just about the text blocks(clipboard image and entry text) not matching up? I was unable to get the above result on my end using a fresh ungoogled chromium with only the --disable-features=WaylandPerSurfaceScale set

I got it working with a fresh install of google chrome, so i have to sit down and figure out what i did to my Chromium instance. Thank you, and sorry for the trouble

try looking in chrome://flags anything not default will be pushed to the top. It's most likely some conflict there.

Also worth verifying nothing is going on with the Exec= in /usr/share/applications/chromium.desktop or $HOME/.local/share/applications/chromium.desktop
