Rendering of window contents broken if fractional scaling (shrink) set in particular ways (with workaround)

On hyprland 0.52.2 (Arch), I noticed that setting certain combinations of fractional scaling results in certain hyprland and xwayland windows being improperly scaled.

The result is that windows on downscaled displays get the contents scaled down with blank space around the application contents.

I used nwg-displays to change settings.

The following results in the mis-scaled windows
3 displays (from left to right):

• DP-2: (1680x1050) scale 0.86
• DP-3: (3840x2160) scale 1.0
• HDMI-A-1: (1920x1080) scale 0.86

I fixed this by scaling up the largest display rather than scaling down smaller displays:
Then adjusted font-scaling to match

3 displays (from left to right):

• DP-2: (1680x1050) scale 1.0
• DP-3: (3840x2160) scale 1.2
• HDMI-A-1: (1920x1080) scale 1.0

So it looks like scaling-up is working properly but scaling down fails.

Apps that are affected:

• rofi
• waybar
• and xwayland app

If what you're experiencing is similar to #12245, then it was fixed in git. I don't know about xwayland apps tho
