Expose /nix/lib.nix in flake

I was wondering if it was possible to expose the functions in the /nix/lib.nix file in the flake somehow (for example in inputs.hyprland.packages.${pkgs.stdenv.hostPlatform.system}.lib)?

Currently, the workaround I'm using is importing "${inputs.hyprland}/nix/lib.nix" manually in my flake and exposing it like this.

Yea we can expose lib, though I wouldn't want people to rely on it. The functions it exposes should be available through the NixOS module. Or do you need it for HM?

I do need it for an approach similar to HM, that is configure everything from nix but with a system-wide configuration.
But I figure, since people should not rely on the function it may be fine just to do the proposed workaround

Is nix/module.nix not sufficient? Or do you wish to extend it somehow?

Yes, the options in nix/module.nix are sufficient for hyprland itself, but other ecosystem plugins like hyprlock or hypridle do not offer an equivalent module (something like programs.hyprlock.settings. This is where the function from /nix/lib.nix would come in handy.

Right, in that case you can import as you're doing currently. I'll probably expose the lib sometime soon.

lol i do stuff like that. idk if it's pure. I'm just curious about what's below. i don't think i need the function.

i think ./nix/lib.nix is just a function though. does its closure contain symbols from nixpkgs or just nix?

or does it use the pattern let: inherit (lib) ...; inherit (lib.strings) ...; ... ; in { inherit flattenAttrs toHyprlang }; to bind symbols inside the closure to the immediate outer scope of the runtime? (i guess here, to what's in the nix/module.nix that imports it)

It is. It's the same if you do that or if we expose lib = import ./nix/lib.nix.

Then you don't need to import the file. Only two functions are contained inside, and one is an abstraction for the other.
