Migrate the current nwis module to the new web service. For migration, we can use the Swagger UI of the web service here.

This requires a full rewrite of the module, but we need to minimize the changes to the current public API.

I noticed this post regarding migrating to the new USGS web api. This will be cool, since your HyRiver pygeohydro package pulls water data faster than the native USGS programs. Genuinely wondering if you have a general timeframe for implementation of this enhancement?

I've been slowly chipping away at this endeavor! I am planning to finish this soon, hopefully, over the next few weeks.

That is awesome! Will USGS's new water API's also impact pynhd.nldi get_basins(feature_ids, fsource='nwissite', split_catchment=False, simplified=True) function? I don't think it will, but just making sure.

Also, thank you for developing the HyRiver software in general. It is brilliant and quite resourceful.

Yes, they are also migrating to the new API, so I will need to work on those too.
