Title: Add Support for NVIDIA Omniverse as a Rendering Backend

Overview

It would be highly beneficial to add support for NVIDIA Omniverse as an alternative rendering backend in Project AirSim. This would expand the project's versatility beyond Unreal Engine and align with other emerging workflows in robotics and high-fidelity simulation.

Feature Details

  • Objective: Integrate Project AirSim’s simlibs with the Omniverse ecosystem (e.g., Omniverse Kit or Isaac Sim).
  • Scope: Enable Omniverse to handle camera simulation, ray tracing, and collision detection while using AirSim’s modular flight stacks and physics integrations (JSBSim, Simulink, FastPhysics, PX4, ArduPilot, etc.).

Type of Request

  • New integration / feature
  • Enhancement to existing systems
  • Refactor or internal improvement

Justification

Omniverse offers a powerful and extensible rendering platform, especially suited for robotics and AI workloads. Supporting it would:

  • Enable high-fidelity image generation and advanced sensor simulation.
  • Improve performance and scalability in synthetic data pipelines.
  • Attract users and researchers already working within the Omniverse ecosystem.
