When you specify a new start for teh x-axis for a bar plot (catch or rec), the plot still shows half of the bar from the previous year. e.g.: https://standardgraphs.ices.dk/manage/ViewGraphsAndTables.aspx?key=22344
This means you can't actually use it to do what you want with barplots (I have had to manually deleted these half-bars in photoshop in the past).
