you might want to double-post the show & tell to malamute btw, you ll reach that community more directly |

Hi all,
I simulated LPBF (Laser Powder Bed Fusion) process following this paper: Vanini, M., Searle, S., Vanmeensel, K., & Vrancken, B. (2024). Avoiding heat source calibration for finite element modeling of the laser powder bed fusion process. Additive Manufacturing, 92, 104369. In this work, they used scaling laws to naturally shift from conduction mode to keyhole mode of the melt pool. The authors used ABAQUS 2021 for their simulation. I used to MOOSE to simulate the same governing equation.
Below is the result for Ti64 alloy at Power (P)=170W, Velocity (V)=0.2m/s , where keyhole geometry is formed by the meltpool.
