Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and North Carolina State University (NCSU) are hosting a two-day, interactive thermal hydraulics workshop at NCSU to be held on August 13th – 14th, 2025. This workshop is intended to help prospective users get started with MOOSE modules and open source MOOSE-based thermal hydraulics applications such as OpenPonghorn. This would involve an overview of the methods to model flows with different approximations, and provide hands-on experience to help users. Please forward this message to anyone at your institution interested in MOOSE-based thermal hydraulics capabilities. Registration for this course is available at the following in this website.
WORKSHOP TOPICS
Introduction to the thermal hydraulics, subchannel and coarse mesh computational fluid dyanmics solvers of MOOSE and OpenPronghorn
Hands-on exercises for building system and assembly models with opensource tools
Simulation capabilities for coupling codes that can resolve different length scales
Introduction to Sockeye, INL's heat pipe code
The deadline for registration is July 24th, 2026. Class space is limited, and admittance will be processed in the order received.
