@karenwuyts after brief discussion with @florisvdh I proceeded to merge #1 to continue work on this repository.

This issue is intended as a reminder that there was still an open question:

Can you have a look at the description of the MNE programme at the bottom? Feel free to replace with improved or more up-to-date contents, either via review commit suggestions / messages or by pushing a new branch that starts from this readme branch, or via other ways you see fit.
