Blocks like the infernalexp:basalt_iron_ore doesn't follow Forge's tagging conventions, and is missing crucial tags that would make it integrate better with other mods in general. This may also be true for other blocks and items.
Regarding direct integration, it looks like the code (3ce72ae) has already been implemented for 1.18?
Having this kind of direct integration in 1.19 would be greatly appreciated.
