[Feature Request]: Possibility to set up log appender function

Feature description

Similarly to the existing log-level and log-layout, I would like to be able to control log-appender function. Currently it's printing the logs to the console which is a good default but I would like to be able to change it.
Possible use cases are appending to the file, inserting to the database etc.
