Email Notifications Don't Work

When no operators are online users normally send the operators a message, upon filling and submitting the form it appears to send the message, however, no message is ever sent.

I'm using mebew 1.6.4

After trying the solutions on the mibew forums (none of which worked, including the smtp mail addin) I decided to use this fix: http://mibew.org/forums/index.php/topic,469.msg5659.html#msg5659
and link to my own php code to handle the contact forms. I'd like it to be more integrated than a redirect, but for now this works just fine.
