Reproduction steps
1. Select `Volc` Volcano in Doodad palette
2. Move your cursor, can place it anywhere. No grid lock
3. Go to Object Editor, select a valid 'bptx' pathing texture for Volcano. Like Units / 16x16 goldmine
4. Volcano placement is now grid locked
5. Back in Object Editor, remove 'bptx' texture by setting it to Custom: "_" (its a special value)
6. Volcano placement is still grid locked
7. Switch to another object in palette
8. Switch back to Volcano
9. It's no longer grid locked
Workaround
Select another object in palette, return to the object you wanted to place.
