Clarification on YOLO-TLP Licensing and Commercial Use Regarding AGPL-3.0 from Ultralytics #1

Description

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing this excellent work on YOLO-TLP! The improvements on small object detection are very impressive.

I am exploring the possibility of using your pre-trained YOLO-TLP weights for a commercial project, but I wanted to clarify a licensing ambiguity before proceeding.

I noticed that this repository is licensed under the Apache License 2.0, which generally permits commercial use and distribution without requiring the source code to be made public. However, I also see that YOLO-TLP is built upon the Ultralytics YOLOv12 framework, which is strictly governed by the AGPL-3.0 license.

Could you please clarify the following:

Inheritance of AGPL-3.0: Do the YOLO-TLP pre-trained weights and modified architecture inherit the AGPL-3.0 copyleft restrictions from Ultralytics, or are they entirely covered by your Apache 2.0 license?

Commercial Use: If I use the YOLO-TLP weights in a commercial service, am I required to open-source my entire codebase (as per AGPL-3.0), or does the Apache 2.0 license exempt me from this?

Enterprise License: Do I need to purchase a separate commercial Enterprise License directly from Ultralytics to sell products using the YOLO-TLP weights?

I want to make sure I am fully compliant with both your licensing terms and Ultralytics' terms before moving forward. Any guidance or clarification you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you again for the great repository.

*** Why ask this?
This formulation is highly specific and forces the author to explicitly address the Ultralytics dependency. It will help you get a concrete "Yes, you can use it freely" or "No, you must buy an Ultralytics license," which protects you legally before you try to sell anything based on this model.
