Hello,
I finished on open3D by recommendation of a college. in one of my future projects, I will need to do simulations (FEM/FVM) of porous media (such as wood for example) from 3D scans using a tomograph. I know that the tomograph gives as output a cloud of points (saddly right now i dont have a concrete example of a file type) but for the first step on my simulation i should get a surface mesh, ideally watertight and conformal.
is Open3D the correct tool to achieve this kind of workflow, by workflow i mean having as an input a really dense cloud point (~5gb of raw data) and getting as ouput surface mesh?
in case that yes, maybe to get the most of Open3D i need something more than the cloud point?
thanks in advance!
