Cookie checker always happens on homepage

The cookie consent banner always seems to appear. It does not always find the cookie that does not permit the consent bar to appear. I tried using some extra code to make sure the consent bar wouldn't show up. But because of the modal backdrop function my page can become unclickable. I have not found a solution to that issue yet sadly.

Maybe a hint would be that both sites use LightSpeed Cache—and that is the only common factor I think...

I have the same issue, the banner appears constantly on the main page no matter whether consent was already given before or not. I use the Litespeed Cache plugin too, but disabling it does not show any effect. This happens on two independent websites of ours.

EDIT: For me the issue was caused by the JS Minify setting of Litespeed Cache. After turning it OFF AND manually CLEARING ALL SERVER SIDE CACHE the issue is gone.

I’m experiencing the same issue: the banner appears randomly across different pages. This happens when WP Super Cache is enabled. The banner ignores the user’s choice and its visibility depends on how the page is cached. On some pages it’s always hidden, while on others it’s always visible.

It might be worth considering loading the banner via JavaScript to avoid cache‑related issues.

Please consider adding compatibility with caching plugins.

Seems like you are passing consents via html, which is full cached via cache plugins.
Assume that caching plugins do 1:1 copy of website, in HTML, and serve that when serving cached version, therefore nothing is executed via WP on consecutive calls (that's why, depending on when WP cached page, it will either keep showing consent popup or never show it on certain subpages).
So best approach (in my opinion, i leave it for you to further investigate), would be serving default agreements in html (deny on all consents), and as soon as page loads - via ajax or some browser storage, fetch last agreements and pass them to datalayer. If no agreements found, then display popup. I'm pretty sure this is what most other plugins related to cookie consent do.

It seems that the issue is not completely resolved yet.
Some of my debugs below, im testing 'state' with simple_consent_mode.functions.get_cookie_value() for simplicity;

• opening incognito
• entering website
• not touching cookie popup
• cookie popup did not open by itself
• on homepage no checkboxes selected, '{"ad_personalization":"denied","ad_storage":"denied","ad_user_data":"denied","analytics_storage":"denied"}
• i dont touch anything, reload, go to other page, open popup again
• on subpage one of checkboxes is already selected, still '{"ad_personalization":"denied","ad_storage":"denied","ad_user_data":"denied","analytics_storage":"denied"}
• i select first 2 checkboxes, and click partial consent button '{"ad_personalization":"denied","ad_storage":"granted","ad_user_data":"denied","analytics_storage":"granted"}'
• i go back to homepage, open cookie modal, first 2 checkboxes are correctly selected, consent same as in previous step
• i go back to subpage where i accepted partial consent, open consent modal - again, only first checkbox is selected, consent same as in previous step ('{"ad_personalization":"denied","ad_storage":"granted","ad_user_data":"denied","analytics_storage":"granted"}')

It seems as you still not checking 'state' of consent when initializing cookie modal (inside JS file) and when opening cookie modal and/or that is still being cached, so likely still that logic is being passed in html instead of loaded dynamically via JS
