Android App Background Termination

Android Apps get terminated from the OS, if they are backgrounded for ~10 seconds.

This happens also while the document scanner is active or images are collected from the gallery.

Some packages on pub.dev do have a function to retrieve the images after the app is started again.

How do we get those images here?

I don't think that this is related to my phone only.
I will create a small example in the next few days showcasing the behavior.

Unfortunately, i can't reproduce the behavior on my Android emulator because the scanner shows the following screen after calling CunningDocumentScanner.getPictures(isGalleryImportAllowed: true)

I tested and recorded it on my phone, but the recording for just a few seconds is so high on a mac, that i cannot upload it in GitHub.
Beside that, the termination happened after 1 minute after starting the scan (scanning a document, editing the scan, adding another scan to the document).

This termination behavior is normal on Android if the system thinks that it requires more resources.
For example, opening the camera nearly always causes other apps to be terminated.

Don't get me wrong, the app is not closed from the users perspective. The state restoration ensures a seamless restart of the app until to the point where the user was before (if correctly implemented).
You may have wondered yourself, after switching from one app to another, some may have scrolled up in a list you already scrolled far down or you are back in the main menu where you previously started to dig into the settings (those things can happen if the state restoration is not fully implemented).

The image picker package seem to be the only package out there handling this case of destruction.
